We hope you'll join us for the return of in-person Counter Culture on Monday, October 10 at The Barnyard in Long Island City, NY.

This event is organized by Counter Culture and FWS in cooperation with Murcia Al Vino Cheese PDO, Mahon-Menorca Cheese PDO and Consorcio Serrano Ham. Counter Culture provides a focused opportunity to connect cheesemakers, importers, mongers, and buyers in an interactive, educational environment. Each trade-only event is an intensive, full-day session with ample opportunity to talk one-on-one and network with your industry peers.

In this event you will hear from presenters who will tell you about their product’s unique story of origin, people, process and, of course, taste!

Emilia D’Albero and Joseph Saracino will guide the participants on a journey in the different regions of Spain with Serrano Ham and cheese from Murcia and Menorca.

Emilia D’Albero

Emilia D’ Albero is the cheese department manager and buyer at The Greene Grape in Brooklyn, NY.

Emilia is an American Cheese Society Certified Cheese Profesional (ACS CCP) as well as a Cheesemonger Invitational finalist and winner. She has been featured in numerous publications, on television, and in podcasts.

Currently he is consulting for Specialities Inc. and Maestri d’Italia Inc.

Joseph Saracino

In addition to the educational content there is the tasting table of cheese, serrano ham and accompaniments that attendees are encouraged to sample throughout the day.

We have a limited number of tickets for each event, so don't delay!

Know more about the products:

  • Murcia Al Vino Cheese PDO is the only European goat cheese soaked in red wine. The red wine gives a flowery aroma and a pleasant aftertaste with reminiscences of goat’s milk and cream. The texture is soft, creamy, and elastic. The rind is smooth, very light and a characteristic wine color. The paste is dense, compact when cut, ivory-colored and may have a few small holes.
  • Mahon-Menorca PDO cheeses are pressed paste cheeses, paralepipedic in shape, with rounded edges and corners, and have the natural flavour of our island, which has been declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO.
  • Serrano Ham is a very complex product and it is difficult to guarantee its ultimate quality. Therefore, the final selection of each piece is our secret to ensuring a homogeneous and standardised product in all the Consorcio Serrano Hams. Only a limited amount of Spanish Serrano Hams are worthy of the “Exclusive Signature” or Consorcio Serrano Quality Seal.
