Jordi Morera is the fifth generation of a family of bread makers and the owner of L’Espiga d’Or in Villanova i la Geltrú, Barcelona. This artisan bread maker is known around the world for his work with six different sourdough cultures, for cultivating his own varieties of wheat and for using his own grindstones to make organic flours.
Morera is also the author of the recently published book La Revolución del Pan, (Montagud Editores, 2017) and the only baker in Spain to have given a master class on bread on the popular TV program Masterchef.
Bestowed by the International Bakers and Confectioners Union (UIBC), the prestigious "World Baker of the Year" award also recognizes Morera's contribution to the bread world in terms of innovation, marketing and business management.
This will be the 77th edition of this conference which will bring together more than two-hundred professionals from fifty different countries, including Spain, Sweden, Germany, Ireland, Switzerland, France, Taiwan, Italy and Argentina. Its objectives are to analyze and discuss new and future challenges for the industry, as well as provide a platform for networking between trade associations, bakers, suppliers, entrepreneurs and other industry professionals.
