The Salon du Fromage is currently on in Paris, running from February 23rd to the 26th at the Paris Expo Porte de Versailles. This International Event for High-Quality Cheeses aims to showcase and highlight the best cheeses and dairy products from around the world.
It also includes the Coups de Coeur Competition, now in its third year. For this edition, around 80 exhibitors from 9 countries submitted 170 products and the panel of judges selected their top 10 following a rigorous assessment. This included 2 Spanish cheeses.
They were Cremosito del Zújar, which is a torta type of cheese made with ewe’s milk, vegetable rennet and salt and using traditional methods, and Queso Silva Cordero, a soft, white cheese made from raw goat’s milk and matured using a selection of moulds.
Spain is also in the spotlight at this edition as it’s the country of honor. Moreover, the Spanish pavilion, organized by ICEX, is offering several guided tastings, featuring goat cheese, ewe’s milk cheeses, Spanish tortas, cow’s milk cheeses, blue-veined cheeses, and mixed milk cheeses, among others.
Spanish companies from many DOs and PDOs are attending, including El Bucarito, La Jaraba, Quesería Redes, Queso Quintana, and Torta de Barros, among others.
