A new event in Spain is looking to raise the profile of Spanish wine. Barcelona Wine Week will be held from February 3rd to the 5th in 2020 and will be organized by Fira de Barcelona, through Alimentaria Exhibitions.

The first edition of this new event will aim to showcase Spanish wine’s economic, cultural and gastronomic potential, as wine is an economic driver and is one of the main producer and exporter industries in Spain.

The objective is to highlight around 600 different wineries at Barcelona Wine Week and to become the leading wine event in the country. It will be a multidisciplinary and versatile event that will offer attendees the opportunity to learn and network, no matter the size of the company or winery. It will be held every two years.

According to Alimentaria, “The new fair is a ‘spin-off’ of Alimentaria that arose in view of the importance of Spain’s winemaking sector and in response to demand from companies and wineries looking for a new platform for internationalization”.

Says ICEX: “Barcelona Wine Week will show that Spain is one of the leading winemaking countries in the world and will maximize the visibility of our wines in those markets that already recognize our quality and where we see interesting opportunities to position our wines among the most appealing and innovative on the market”.
