Seven of Top Ten Extra Virgin Olive Oils in Prestigious Evooleum Ranking Are From Spain

An extra virgin olive oil made from the Coratina variety in Ciudad Real took the number one spot, while the second on the list went to an oil made with Hojiblanca in Córdoba, and the fourth place was awarded to one produced in Madrid from Hojiblanca and Picual, highlighting the richness of Spain's olive oil heritage

Spain, a worldwide leader in quality olive oil production

The guide, published by Mercacei, the largest olive oil publishing group in the world, highlights the very best extra virgin olive oils from Spain, Italy, Turkey, Portugal, Croatia, France, Tunisia, Morocco, Brazil, Greece, and Israel. More than 1000 samples from 26 countries competed in this international competition, and the awards seek to highlight the efforts of small producers and women producers in particular, and also recognize the efforts of small publishers.

For Spain, extra virgin olive oil is one of its most emblematic products and one of its biggest exports. Although there is significant production in the Jaén and Córdoba provinces in Andalusia, there are also plenty of producers elsewhere, and these awards clearly reflect the vast variety of olive oils produced across Spain, from Extremadura to Valencian Community to Madrid.
