Spanish Organic Wine Tasting

Spain plays a great part in the world of organic wines. The number of organic wineries in Spain today surpasses 1000, while also the biggest ones plan to convert their production to this kind of elaboration.

The innovation of Spanish organic wines will be presented during the program Spanish wines in the heart of the city 4.0, at the tasting led by Marko Marjanovic, sommelier and Spanish Wine Educator, and organized by Economic and Commercial Office of Embassy of Spain in Belgrade.

The professional audience will have the opportunity to taste the wines of the following wineries:

Bodegas Luzon winery has produced wine since the 19th century and it is located in Humilla at the southeast of Spain, with continental climate under the influence of the Mediterranean. The sharp climate results in the soil of rough texture with a lot of limestone. As a consequence, the bunches are small, with good sugar concentration, excellent acidity and thicker skin. They will present the wine Luzon Collection Monastrell.

Bodegas Tempore is from Burgos, Aragon, the region on the north of Spain, and the vineyards spread over the plateau at 550m above sea level. The soil consists of limestone and sand, rich in minerals, and the sun exposure is 90%. These conditions, with the grape yield of maximum 5000kg give this warm and consistent wines recognizable earthy character. They will present 2 labels: Generacion 73 and Finca la Dehesa, both obtained from garnacha variety, but from different vineyards.

Prado Rey comes from the well-known region, Ribera del Duero. The vineyards are located on the estate which belonged to the first queen of Castile, Isabela I. Of the 9 parcels spread over 540ha, 3 of them are organic. Since 2016, the winery has used clay jars – in Spanish, tinajas – so the wine can get more freshness and fruitiness. The audience will try their sherry from 100% organic tempranillo, Adaro.

Bodegas Ondarre is a family winery on the hills on the far north of Rioja which possesses unique combination of natural factors. The altitude, rather shallow and chemically complex soil, mostly southern orientation, but on the very uneven terrain, are especially suitable for the varieties rarely found in Rioja, such are mazuelo and white tempranillo.  Their wine Primeur is a blend of organically grown tempranillo, garnacha and mazuelo, where every variety fermented separately.

Alta Alella winery is located on the unique terroir Saulo in Alella DO, north of Barcelona, which gives the wine freshness and minerality. The vineyards are in the national park Seralada de Marina on the coast of Mediterranean. The wine Alta Alella PB, which will be presented at the tasting, is obtained from the variety pansa blanca, also known as xarelo.

The event is intended only for HoReCa professionals. Due to limited space, please confirm your participation as soon as possible. You can register for your spot on the workshop by sending an e-mail to belgrado@comercio.mineco.es or filling out the form.
