Spanish Wine Export Sales Set New Record

Spanish wine exports are performing spectacularly. Between October 2021 and September 2022, export sales from Spanish wine reached almost 3 billion euros, according to the Spanish Observatory of Wine Markets (OeMv).

This is a new record, surpassing the previous one from August 2022. The Observatory’s report also revealed that more than 2 billion liters of wine were exported in that period. 

The sector’s sales from other countries increased by 4.3% compared with the same period last year. These statistics are especially noteworthy given that Spanish wine exports have decreased in volume, so the increase in sales comes from higher prices. It’s also worth noting that exports of Spanish wine increased by 3.8% in terms of value.

With regard to the first 10 months of 2022, export sales increased by 4.3%, to over 2.4 billion euros. New records were achieved in February, April, May, June, July, August, and September.

In particular, bottled wine exports have increased in value by 3%, with their average price increasing by 8.3%. Bottled wine accounts for 83% of Spanish wine export sales.

In terms of markets, packaged wine exports increased in Mexico, and producers’ relationships with other important markets such as the US, the UK, Germany, Switzerland, and Canada remained strong.
