The rise of alternative protein in the World

ICEX Spain Trade & Investment, together with the global network of Economic & Commercial Offices of Spain is organizing a series of webinars on foodtech.This initiative is built to strengthen the business network of the rising Spanish ecosystem, to show it to the world and to present success stories and interesting projects from other countries to enhance collaboration.

The first webinar in this 4 event series will focus on alternative protein, both plant-based and cell-based. We will introduce the importance of this category in the future of the food system.

Spain is a leader in the European food industry and has developed state-of-the-art capabilities in different verticals of foodtech. The very well-developed logistics system or an inviting gastronomic background are tailwinds for the appearance of new proposals and technological disruption.

Spain is developing a highly unique ecosystem on which to build the future of food. More than 400 startups are working hard on developing and improving ingredient production, transformation efficiency and optimizing the sustainability of people and the planet through innovative technological solutions that impact the entire agri-food value chain. These projects also have the potential to ease the access to better food, to reduce food waste and limit the impact of industrial waste.
