The official list of the World’s Best Vineyards has been released, and the top 50 includes 4 vineyards from Spain.

This prestigious ranking reflects votes cast by The World’s Best Vineyards Academy, which comprises around 500 trade professionals from all over the world, such as sommeliers, luxury travel correspondents, and wine aficionados, among others. The process involves experts designated as Academy Chairs, who then recruit experts to nominate their favorite vineyards, followed by voting. Aspects considered include price, reputation, accessibility, staff, view, restaurant, and tours.

The Spanish wineries that made the grade include R. López de Heredia Viña Tondonia, S.A., which came in at number 3 and was named the Best Vineyard in Europe. Based in Rioja, it was recognized for its “Charming 19th-century winery complex and ‘time-capsule’ sense of winemaking tradition and history.” It’s known for its white and red wines.

In 9th place was Marqués de Riscal, also based in Rioja. This vineyard stood out for its “City of Wine, including the Frank Gehry masterpiece Marqués de Riscal hotel.” In 24th place was Vivanco. Bodega, Fundación, Experiencias, in Rioja. This vineyard, which makes modern, fruity wines, was recognized with the UN World Tourism Organization Award for Innovation it received for its Vivanco Museum of Wine Culture.

And in 28th place was Familia Torres – Pacs del Penedès. Located in Penedès and known for its thrilling Cabernet Sauvignon wines, this is a “new minimalist bodega located on the spectacular Carretera del Vi wine road.”
