New Conference to Highlight Traditional Wines from Andalusia

Representatives from the regional and provincial governments of Andalusia took advantage of international fortified wine exhibition Vinoble last week to announce the creation of a new conference for Andalusian wines.

With the tenth edition of Vinoble (held from June 3–5 in Jerez de la Frontera) a huge success, the makers of the world-famous sherry wines from Andalusia now have another important date to mark on their calendars. Next spring, the first edition of the Congreso Internacional de Vinos Tradicionales de Andalucía (International Conference of Traditional Wines from Andalusia) will take place at the historic Círculo de Bellas Artes exhibition space in Madrid.

This three-day conference will be held on April 1–3, 2019, for the purpose of analyzing, studying, debating, presenting and promoting the fortified wines produced in the four protected designations of origins for these products in Andalusia: DO Jerez-Xérès-Sherry, Manzanilla de Sanlúcar y Vinagre de Jerez; DO Condado de Huelva; DO Montilla-Moriles y Vinagre de Montilla-Moriles, and DO Málaga, Sierras de Málaga y Pasas de Málaga.

This conference will bring together more than four hundred attendees, as well as important Spanish and international experts from the wine world, who will share their knowledge of enology, innovation, lifestyle, wine regions and more. The event will also feature three guided tastings a day, during which wine experts will weigh in on the different characteristics of the wines from these designations of origin. Other activities will include an exhibition of wines from Andalusia, tasting and wine pairing workshops, culinary demonstrations presented by important regional chefs, and a gala dinner.
