Foods and Wines from Spain and #Alimentos de España are organizing, with the patronage of ANFACO-Association of Spanish producers of canned fish, a virtual tasting of fish preserves from Spain exclusively for Italian commercial distribution and restaurants operators. This is an attractive alternative to physical tastings, which unfortunately have to be cancelled due to the pandemic. On Monday 3 May Flavio Morganti, chef of the Galileo restaurant in Orense (Galicia), will lead all participants on a tasty journey through 10 types of Spanish fish preserves. Participants will receive all preserves at home. Enjoy the presentation!
Spain is by far the leading supplier of canned fish to the Italian market. In the first 11 months of 2020, 60 thousand tons of Spanish canned fish were imported into Italy, for a value of 316 million euros, with an import market share of 28% in quantity and almost 30% in value. Canned tuna is the best-selling product, with a market share of 34%. Also very popular in Italy are anchovies from the Cantabrian Sea, bonito del norte white tuna, mackerel, sardines and tuna belly.
