New Cookbook Offers Inside Look at Cuisine from Balearic Islands
A new cookbook by Emma Warren is putting Spanish cuisine in the spotlight. Islas: Food of the Spanish Islands offers a close-up look at popular dishes from the Balearic Islands: Formentera, Ibiza, Menorca and Mallorca. Their cuisine is clearly influenced by nearby places, in Spain and beyond, from Valencia and Catalonia to southern France, Sardinia and even Sicily.
Islas features 100 easy-to-make recipes, and the stunning photographs transport readers and home chefs to the islands’ beaches, hills, and inland areas as the book highlights some of the best flavors of Mediterranean. The individual chapters are dedicated to various landscapes, including villages, the coast, and mountains.
Over 280 pages, the author shares cooking secrets, information about a wide range of ingredients, and plenty of dishes that are specific to the area and aren’t very well known. The author is an expert in Spanish cuisine, having lived in Spain since 2001. She has spent time in Catalonia and Mallorca and has another book entitled The Catalan Kitchen.
