Two of the superchefs behind the pioneering project Mercado Little Spain, the massive Spanish food hall and market that opened in March in New York City, will be offering a talk in next month that the masses will be clamoring to attend.
On September 25th, Ferran Adrià and Jose Andrés, arguably two of the world’s most important chefs and indubitably Spanish culinary icons, will come together to talk about “creativity and innovation in Spanish food—and beyond,” according to yahoo.com. It’s being billed as a “once-in-a-lifetime conversation.”
The event is already sold out. Those lucky enough to get a ticket will be nibbling on a selection of the market’s best tapas, including chicken croquettes and bombas, and they will also receive a copy of Adrià’s book The Family Meal: Home Cooking with Ferran Adria. This unique event is being hosted by Mercado Little Spain, Phaidon, Lavazza and Books Are Magic.
Adria’s book features 31 different meals, each comprising 3 different recipes. The suggestions are inspired by the family dinners he would eat with his staff at his now-shuttered world-renowned restaurant elBulli.
Mercado Little Spain has been described as “a veritable love letter to Spain,” according to the event invitation. It features cuisine from every corner of Spain, and spans 35,000 square feet. In addition to the expansive food court, there are also 3 restaurants, a cocktail bar and a wine bar. It is, by far, the most incredible representation of Spanish food in New York City and has received rave reviews since opening its doors.
