Spanish Wines to be Highlighted at Tasting and Seminar in Switzerland

Attendees will also be treated to Ibérico ham, cava, pintxos, and a light meal prepared by a Spanish chef


Spanish wines will take center stage later this month in Switzerland, on November 20th, when ICEX and the Spanish Embassy’s Economic and Commercial Office in Bern hold the “Paso-Doble an der Spitze” Wein TOP Seminar.

This 90-minute seminar/tasting will shine a light on 18 Spanish wines, and will cater to a very small group of trade professionals, among them trade journalists, well-known sommeliers, key opinion leaders, and teachers from culinary schools, among others. It will be led by David Schwarzwälder, who received the Nariz de Oro (Golden Nose) award as the best taster-sommelier in Spain.

A mix of wines will be highlighted, and attendees will be able to sample a selection of high-quality wines currently available in Switzerland as well as top-flight options that are not as well known and come from new and emerging Designations of Origin. The goal is to underline the proven quality of better-known DOs and raise awareness about the potential of wines from up-and-coming DOs.

The seminar will be followed by a drink reception, at which participants will be able to sample the wines discussed during the seminar. Cava will be served, with Schwarzwälder providing a brief introduction, and Ibérico ham and pintxos featuring Spanish ingredients will also be available. The event will conclude with a very light meal prepared by a Spanish chef.
