Spain Sets Record at Mundus Vini Spring Tasting with 18 Grand Gold Medals

More than 40% of all Spanish wines that participated in the Mundus Vini Spring Tasting took home a medal, for a total of 708 this year
 

Spain was the absolute leader at the Mundus Vini Spring Tasting 2021, with its excellent wines setting a record with 18 Grand Gold Medals.
Almost 3,000 wines from all over the world were awarded medals at the 28th MUNDUS VINI International Wine Awards in Neustadt, Germany.

The panel of experts tasted 7,300 wines from 39 wine-growing countries over a period of 20 days.
 Wines from Spain were awarded an impressive 708 medals this year, placing it second in the unofficial ranking of the best wine-growing countries, close behind Italy with 734 medals. More than 40% of all Spanish wines participating in the competition were awarded a medal. Another testament to the excellence of Spanish wines is the new record they set, with 18 Grand Gold medals, the highest number awarded by Mundus Vini.

Bodegas Gonzalez Byass received 3 Grand Golds for its Tio Pepe Cuatro Palmas and the two PX-Qualities Néctar and Néo. Grand Golds also went to Rioja Vega and Bodegas Campillo (DOCa Rioja), Bodegas Ochoa (PDO Navarra), to the organic wine from Bodegas Alceño (PDO Jumilla), Bodegas Yuntero (PDO La Mancha), Finca La Estacada (PGI Tierra de Castilla), Bodegas Las Dos Antiguas (Vino de la Tierra Castilla-León), Bodegas Portia, Bodegas Legaris, Bodeags Peñafiel, Bodegas 41 Norte, Bodegas Tamaral (all PDO Ribera del Duero) as well as to Bodegas Sinforiano (PDO Cigales) and to Oloroso Don Nuño from Lustau.
