Spanish producer Noel, a leader in the meat industry, recently signed commercial agreements with distributors and processing plants in China’s HoReCa channel. The plan is to export 17,000 tons of pork through the end of 2021, which aligns perfectly with the company’s focus on international growth, one of the strategic pillars of the business.
The company already has orders in place and they’re expected to reach the Chinese market at the end of June. To achieve a deal like this, Noel had to pass a series of rigorous audits and receive authorization from China’s General Administration of Customs. As a result of this new agreement, the company will hire an additional 20 people and expand its cold storage capacity.
Noel is still negotiating and is looking to expand its portfolio in the coming weeks with additional trade deals. At present, they operate in 66 different countries and exports accounted for around half of its revenue last year. Data from Spain’s Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food suggests that meat and pork offal exports amounted to 53% of all agricultural exports from Spain to China last year.
