The 1st Alboran Sea Forum will be held in Fuengirola, Spain from September 13th to the 16th. The Alboran Sea, located between the Iberian Peninsula and the north of Africa, is considered to be an excellent example of Mediterranean diversity. It was chosen as the focus of the event because it represents the importance of food safety, caring for the environment, responsible consumption, reducing pollution, and energy savings.
The program includes a meeting of Alboran Universities, which will connect professors and research groups from universities in Spain, Algeria and Morocco to collaborate on research, teaching and scientific advice revolving around protecting and managing the marine environment. The goal is to find a common solution to environmental problems in the Alboran Sea.
There will also be cooking demos featuring prestigious Michelin-star chefs including Mauricio Giovanini, Diego de Río, Xanti Elías, Dani Garcia, Pablo Sanchez, Willie Orellana, Diego Gallegos, José Álvarez, Yolanda García and Luis Olarra. The chefs will prepare dishes using products from the Alboran Sea, and they will also discuss, together with nutritionists, food critics and food historians, solutions to safeguard the coastline.
The four-day event is expected to attract industry professionals as well as experts and scientists from around the world, and there will be a range of activities for all attendees, including music, food, and workshops for kids.
