José Pizarro 20 Years in London

José Pizarro is an institution on London’s dining scene and beyond, and he has acted as a stellar ambassador for Spanish food there. The chef recently celebrated two decades in the city with a special ceremony held at the Spanish Embassy in London.

This event was attended by his brothers, cousins and mother and his staff, and it also brought together more than 400 professionals in the areas of gastronomy, arts and culture, business and politics, many from Spain and some from other countries. Chefs and famous figures at the ceremony included Paco Roncero, Juanjo López, Susi Díaz, Monika Linton, Matt Tebutt, Raimond Blanc, Paulo Airaudo, Cecilia Hempton, Eddie Peake and Harland Miller.

The Spanish Ambassador in London spoke about how there are currently many successful Spanish restaurants in the city, and Pizarro was instrumental in their success, thanks to his tireless commitment to raising the profile of food and flavors from Spain there.

Pizarro is no stranger to the editing world as he has several cookbooks under his belt. At the ceremony, he spoke about his fifth publication in the UK: Andalusia. This book takes a close-up look at cuisine, products and recipes from southern Spain, and is also available in the US, Australia and Germany. Spaniards will be able to get their hands on it this fall.

The chef runs a small empire in London and beyond. His restaurants include Pizarro Restaurant Bermondsey, José Tapas Bar Bermondsey, and José Pizarro Broadgate in London, and he recently opened José Pizarro The Swan Inn, in Esher.
