Spanish-born, London-based chef José Pizarro is really expanding his empire this summer with not one, but two new restaurants, both at the Royal Academy of Arts, also known as the RA in Piccadilly, and both slated to open on August 11th. One will be a more formal, sit-down restaurant, called José Pizarro, like the chef, on the first floor inside the Dorfman Senate Room. It will open from 11:30 am to 6 pm. The other will be a more casual, tapas-style restaurant in the gallery’s Poster Bar, which will be officially renamed Poster Bar by José. It will open from 10 am to 6 pm and will mainly serve dishes for sharing.
Fans of his cooking will be delighted to see him serving up his most emblematic dishes, which includes favorites such as Ibérico presa, strawberry gazpacho, and leeks with romesco sauce at the former and Galician empanadas, spicy prawn fritters with alioli, tortilla, and ham at the latter.
“I’m extremely proud to be at the Royal Academy of Arts, which is one of the most important—if not the most important—art institutions in the whole world. I’m thrilled to be able to raise awareness about Spanish gastronomy in a place so diverse and so full of culture. I’m over the moon. For me, art is very important and I enjoy it almost as much as cooking,” said José Pizarro to Food & Wines From Spain.
