Award-winning Spanish restaurant Barrafina, in London, is adding a new outpost to its portfolio. There are currently three restaurants open for business: on Dean Street, on Adelaide Street, and on Drury Lane. The fourth location is slated to open in Coal Drops Yard, in the Kings Cross area, on October 26th. The Adelaide Street restaurant boasts a Michelin star.
Owners Sam and Eddie Hard made a wise decision when, back in the day, they hired chef Angel Zapata Martin to take over when Nieves Barragan left the business. With his impressive CV and loads of experience in high-end restaurants, Martin joined the team in May of 2017 and his contribution is indisputable.
He is expected to “mark Catalan cuisine on London’s dining map at Barrafina Coal Drops Yard,” according to mrporter.com. As he prepares the menu, he is looking to include traditional Catalan dishes from his youth as well as the most popular dishes from the other Barrafina outposts. There will be several dishes that combine meat and fish recipes, i.e. surf and turf; he will be using a Josper grill and there will be plenty of seafood, for which the region is known.
The new Barrafina will aim to use top-flight ingredients, serve remarkable food, and offer a stellar dining experience, consistent with the existing locales.
