Superchef José Andrés and his company, ThinkFoodGroup, have a new prestigious gig in the Big Apple. He has joined forces with Flag Luxury Group LLC and will be in charge of all the food and drink at The Ritz-Carlton New York when the hotel opens in 2021 in the city’s NoMad neighborhood.
Said the chef: "New York has always been a dream for me. Now that we're here with our Mercado Little Spain, it's beyond exciting to expand on that dream and to be opening in 2021 in the new Ritz-Carlton with Flag Luxury Group - among the best names in luxury hospitality."
Specifically, Andrés and his team will run two restaurants at the hotel plus the rooftop bar and lounge. They will also be responsible for all the in-room dining, banquet services and food and drink served in the lobby lounge. The hotel, a $500 million project that is currently under construction, is expected to be over 500 feet high. It will offer stellar views of the Empire State Building, among other landmarks, and will feature 250 rooms and 16 branded residences.
According to a representative from Flag Luxury Group, “[José’s] DNA will be felt throughout the offerings, where our guests will be met by the stories he conveys with his food.”
