Dubai is getting a new Spanish restaurant before the year is over, thanks to Sunset Hospitality Group. LOLA, which is slated to open in October, will be located at the hip, lifestyle hotel TRYP by Wyndham Barsha Heights.
LOLA will be a casual dining concept with a “taberna-like” atmosphere that aims to “bring back long Spanish family lunches that turn into dinners,” according to zawya.com. This is a tradition referred to as sobremesa: after the meal, guests stay for coffee, sometimes liquors, and conversation, which can continue for several hours.
Transporting customers to the busy streets of Andalusia, LOLA will boast the largest selection of Spanish charcuterie in Dubai and a wide selection of tapas, which will be perfect for pairing with cañas. While the menu has yet to be revealed, diners can expect authentic food and simple but delicious dishes.
There’s no shortage of Spanish restaurants in Dubai, as locals are big fans of cuisine from the Iberian Peninsula. From Seville’s Bar and Restaurant and Al Hambra to El Sur and Casa de Tapas, there’s no shortage of supply or demand.
A further testament to Spanish chefs’ commitment to bringing their food to the city is the upcoming opening of Jaleo, one of the most popular restaurants from José Andrés, which is expected to be ready in 2021 at The Royal Atlantis Resort & Residences on The Palm.
