Mahou is the Spanish Beer Brand with the Most International Awards in 2019
Mahou had plenty to celebrate when it rang in 2020. Spain’s leading beer brand ended 2019 with no less than 45 medals, received in prestigious international competitions around the world during the course of the year. As a result, it was the Spanish brand of beer to receive the most awards.
In total, eight of the brand’s beers received distinctions from experts in contests across the world. They were: Mahou Cinco Estrellas Session IPA, which took home the gold at European Beer Star; Mahou Cinco Estrellas, which was recognized at the World Beer Awards, Monde Selection, the Australian Beer Awards, the London Beer Competition and at the Barcelona Beer Challenge, among other competitions; Barrica Bourbon, which received accolades at World Beer Idol, the International Beer Challenge, and the Craft Beer Awards, among others; Maestra Dunkel, recognized at the Concurs de Lyon, the Frankfurt International Beer Trophy, and the Brussels Beer Challenge; Maestra Doble Lúpulo, which won at the Copa Cervezas de América, Monde Selection, European Beer Star, the Craft Beer Awards, and others; Barrica Original and 0.0 Tostada, both of which were recognized at many of the same competitions as the others.
Said Mahou San Miguel’s Marketing Manager, César Hernández, “For us, the best ‘award’ is that consumers continue to choose us every day… [and our goal is to] raise awareness about Spain’s beer culture, enhancing its visibility and exporting our expertise and that of Spanish brewers.”
