If you’re passionate Ibérico ham, then you’re likely a fan of Monte Nevado. This company, based in Segovia, has been in the business since 1898 and is a true pioneer when it comes to preparing high-quality, vacuum-sealed boned hams.
Monte Nevado products are now available for ham lovers and fans of Spanish gastronomy on Rue de Passy in Paris, at the La Grande Epicerie food emporium there. It will offer its top products, among them its Serrano ham 24 and its 100% acorn-fed Ibérico ham as well as a selection of wines and tapas from Spain.
Just last year, the company’s 2014 Monte Nevado vintage received the Food of Spain (Alimentos de España) Award for the best Acorn-Fed Ibérico Ham in recognition of the brand’s lengthy and natural curing process and also its individualized selection of every piece. This distinction is “based on the most demanding criteria of Spain,” which includes “the shape and appearance and… organoleptic properties of aromas, textures and flavor,” according to the company’s website.
This is the second La Grande Epicierie where its products are available. They’re also sold at the store on Rue de Sèvres, near the Eiffel Tower.
