Two Spanish water brands, which are part of Aguas Danone, are being recognized for their commitment to the environment. Font Vella and Lanjarón are the first companies in Spain to officially receive B Corp certification, which recognizes their commitment to the community and the environment. Companies that obtain B Corp certification “meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability to balance profit and purpose,” according to the website.
Moreover, several Aguas Danone brands are committed to becoming zero emission companies, including Font Vella, which has set 2030 as its deadline. According to the latter company, their three brands of mineral water have already reduced their CO2 emissions and use recycled materials, and 100% of their electricity has come from renewable sources since 2017. These companies are determined to reduce their environmental footprints.
According to representatives from B Corp, the goal is for companies to be seen as an agent for positive change that actively works to address social and environmental issues. Instead of working to create value for shareholders, there is a shift as they work to create value for society.
