Sherry Wine Seeks a New Look

The search for a new sherry wine label is on, with the announcement of a new competition presented by the Sherry Wine Council for the design of its generic wine labels.

This dynamic initiative seeks to encourage talented designers from the global web platform 'DesignCrowd' to try their hand at creating a new image for Spain's internationally famous Sherry and Manzanilla wines.

Designers have until Friday July 15th, to submit their designs for the generic Sherry labels that will appear on the bottles used for promotional activities. A total of ten new labels will be required, one for each of the region's most important styles of Sherry wine: Fino, Manzanilla, Amontillado, Palo Cortado, Oloroso, Pale Cream, Medium, Cream, Pedro Ximénez and Moscatel.

The competition is open to professional and amateur designers, as well as art students and anyone else who wishes to participate. The full brief, list of requirements and competition details are available on the DesignCrowd site, under the heading "Sherry Wine Label Contest".

The competition will be judged by members of the Sherry Wine Council and professional designers from different fields. The winner will be announced at the Jerez de la Frontera Harvest Festival during the first half of September. The winner will receive a 1,000-euro cash prize, a diploma and a selection of Sherries. The new labels will be presented during International Sherry Week, which will take place from November 7th-13th, 2016.
