The Harpers Design Awards are a very prestigious set of accolades awarded in the UK, the goal of which is to “recognize recently launched, redesigned or well-established designs within the industry”. Products are judged according to several factors, including overall aesthetic, target market concerns and initial impact. Medals in gold, silver and bronze categories were awarded, and each category had a final overall Supreme Champion winner. The categories include everything from red, white, rose and sparkling wine to beer, cider, brown and white spirits, fortifieds, and soft drinks.
One Spanish name was among the winners this year: Bodegas Cruz de Alba, whose Finca Los Hoyales bottle won the Packaging Design Trophy for its design and originality. The dark, robust bottle features a flesh-colored cloth label with an illustration of two hands holding grapes. It is very elegant and simple, and the jury unanimously agreed that the product is a true standout, far surpassing the competition.
This 100% Tempranillo wine from Ribera del Duero winery Cruz de Alba has also received other distinctions, from the likes of Decanter, among others.
Finca Los Hoyales was distinguished for its singular design and originality.
