On March 7th, the Gran Orden de Caballeros del Vino will hold a dinner to induct two new people, bringing the total number of members up to 66. In total, 340 people are expected to attend, which includes both members and people with ties to the Spanish wine industry, such as importers, producers, and heads of procurement for different types of stores. Guests will dine on a menu prepared by chef Henry Brosi, whose imaginative cuisine will be paired with seven different wines from across Spain, chosen by members of the Order in a blind tasting. This is one of the sector’s most important public relations events to raise the profile of Spanish wines in the UK.
The Wines from Spain Trade Fair, which is organized by Spain’s Economic and Commercial Office in London, will be held on March 9th. This annual event brings together trade professionals and shines a light on both wines that already have a foothold in the market as well as others which are looking to gain entry. Wines from 23 Spanish wineries from all over Spain will participate, and 69 DOs will be represented at the event.
Two master classes and tastings will also be held during the fair, one on Sherry and another on white wines. Attendees will need something to snack on, and Omar Allibhoy, of Tapas Revolution fame, will be on hand to prepare a special selection.
Both events will aim to raise the profile of Spanish wines in the UK, which is the second-largest market for Spanish wine exports
