March in a big month for wines and spirits, which will be the center of attention at the ProWein International Trade Fair. Scheduled for March 19th to the 21st, companies from all over the world will descend on Dusseldorf, Germany, for one of the industry’s most important events. It prides itself on providing a “unique business platform for specialized trade for wine and spirits”, bringing together a wide range of professionals, from importers and exporters to members of the gastronomy and hotel industry and the wholesale and retail segments.
Of all participating countries, Spain ranks in third place, after France and Italy, with no less than 600 companies planning to attend. Bodegas from all over Spain will be represented, with the following breakdown: Rioja (138 wineries), Ribera del Duero (71), Rueda (45), Rías Baixas (40), Penedès (38), Priorat (38), Navarra (34), La Mancha (28), Montsant (25), Valencia (17), Jumilla and Toro (16), Bierzo (13), and Ribeiro (11). Wines will also be coming from Utiel-Requena, Somontano, Jerez, and Empordà, among other locations. Cavas, Spain’s organic wines, and single-estate wines will also be on hand. In short, Spanish companies will take full advantage of this opportunity to promote national wines at large, as well as their particular products.
