González Byass is celebrating its big win at the Excellence in Wines and Spirits Awards, organized by German magazine Meininger. The company was named “World’s Best Wine Family” in recognition of its commitment to producing premium wines and spirits and its pioneering position in innovation and brand creation worldwide. The publication presents awards to leading figures and families in the international wine and spirits industry and the ceremony was held in Düsseldorf. The company has the following brands in Spain: Cavas Vilarnau (DO Cava), Dominio Fournier (DO Ribera del Diero), Finca Constancia (Vino de la Tierra de Castilla), Finca Moncloa (Vino de la Tierra de Cádiz), Tío Pepe (DO Jerez), Beronia (DO Rioja and DO Rueda), Viñas del Vero (DO Somontano), as well as brands in Chile and Mexico.
It also produces several spirits. González Byass was originally founded in 1835 in Jerez, and it’s currently run by the fifth generation of the family. It’s known around the world for its wines, which offer a loyal expression of the terroir, and for its use of environmentally friendly and sustainable winemaking techniques. For the family, sherry has always been one of its main focuses, with Tío Pepe being one of its most popular products.
