Big news for DC restaurants: those included on the list of Bib Gourmand locales in the 2020 Michelin Guide for Washington, DC have been announced. In this edition of the list, there are 44 restaurants, and 10 of those are new additions.
Two restaurants to maintain their position on the prestigious list offer Spanish flavors to local diners. The first is Jaleo, a popular locale with multiple locations across the US and a project from renowned chef José Andrés. Offering traditional and cutting-edge tapas, Jaleo serves authentic products and dishes, from acorn-fed Ibérico ham Algeciras-style gazpacho to house-made butifarra sausage with white beans and also garlic shrimp.
The other is Joselito: Casa de Comidas, where Madrid-born chef David Sierra mans the stoves. This “intimate” restaurant on Capitol Hill is an institution and serves dishes like penne pasta with chorizo and crispy Manchego cheese, deep-fried anchovies with cumin and garlic alioli, and soupy rice with fish and seafood. It also serves an exquisite selection of wines from Spain.
As for the Michelin Guide for Washington, DC, the Spanish representative, Minibar, by José Andrés, held steady with on the list with two stars.
