Best Spanish Extra Virgin Olive Oils Announced
The winners of these extremely prestigious annual awards represent some of the finest olive oils in Spain. They are given out year after year by MAPAMA in recognition of excellence in various categories of Spanish extra virgin olive oil.
This year, the "Best Extra Virgin Olive Oil in Spain", award was won by olive oil producer Almazaras de la Subbética from Carcabuey (Córdoba), for the oil it presented to the category of young bitter – where it obtained the highest points out of any of the competing oils. Additionally, the finalists in this category were Aceites Finca la Torre S.L.U. of Bobadilla (Málaga) and Almazara de Muela of Priego de Córdoba (Córdoba).
This year, the winner of the young sweet olive oil category was Aceites Campoliva of Pegalajar (Jaén), and the finalists were Oro Bailén – Galgón 99, S.L. of Villanueva de la Reina (Jaén), and Monva of Mancha Real (Jaén).
Finally, the category of young sweet and ripe went to winner Casas de Hualdo of Carpio de Tajo (Toledo), and the finalists were Elaia of Navalvillar de Pela (Badajoz) and Arbequisur from Oleoestepa, which is located in Aguadulce (Seville).
