Cata Vino Mercado and Wine Bar to Open in Detroit

Detroit is getting a new tapas bar! Cata Vino Mercado and Wine Bar is expected to open in Midtown before the end of the year. Brought to you by the team behind the city’s wildly popular restaurant La Feria, experts in Spanish tapas, they decided to try a new concept.

With this new project, “the owners are aiming to bring a slice of classic Spanish dining culture to Detroit,” according to detroit.eater.com. As the name suggests, Cata Vino will offer a very extensive selection of wines, of which 85% will come from Spain. This will include still and sparkling wines as well as sherries. Customers will be able to order wines by the bottle, glass or flight, and they will also offer tastings.

The for the food, the market will sell gourmet products imported from Spain, including extra virgin olive oil, olives, paprika and high-end tinned seafood such as anchovies, tuna and octopus.

Cata Vino’s design aims to recreate the sherry and wine bars that are popular in southern Spain. The small venue will accommodate 30 customers and will have a long bar that separates the wine bar from the tapas restaurant. The owners’ goal is to become the place to go in the city for outstanding wine.
