José Pizarro’s Book Catalonia Recognized in Contest for “Excellence in Visual Books”

The chef’s book was an honoree title in the cookbook category at a competition held as part of the New York Rights Fair

At the New York Rights Fair, held in New York City, the Talking Pictures: Selected Books competition was held for the very first time. The new contest recognizes “excellence in visual books,” according to booksandpublishing.com.au.

The jury, which comprised experts from Hamelin Cultural Association, Parsons School of Design, and Publishers Weekly, chose three honoree titles.

One of the honoree titles in the Cookbook category was none other than José Pizarro’s latest cookbook, Catalonia: Recipes from Barcelona and Beyond. In his book, the London-based Spanish-born chef teaches readers how to make typical dishes from the region and shows them “how to take the experience of eating in the little bars in Barcelona to [their] own [kitchens].” The photos of Barcelona and the rest of Catalonia are spectacular, and seek to make readers feel as if they were visiting Spain.

The awards are actually an offshoot of Taking Pictures: The Visual Book Now, a book symposium, and aim to “explore the convergence of visual artists and the publishing industry in generating innovative projects and new visual forms.” The New York Rights Fair agents, publishers and content professionals to handle the sales negotiation and distribution of content.
